Pro/ENGINEER (commonly referred to as Pro/E or ProE) is a 3D CAD (Computer-aided design) parametric   feature solid modeling software created by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC)-USA.Company founded in 1985.

 

Pro/ENGINEER is an integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE (Computer-aided design/ Computer-aided manufacturing/ Computer-aided engineering) solution for mechanical engineering and design which was created by Dr. Samuel P. Geisberg.

 

It pioneered the CAD industry by introducing the concept of Parametric, Feature-based Solid Modeling.

 

It runs on several UNIX flavors, Linux and Microsoft Windows, and provides solid modeling, assembly modeling and drafting functionality for mechanical engineers.

 

Models are driven parameters and intelligent features, rather than simple dimensional values.

 

It is very very very strong in SOLID Modeling. No other software support as like this in SOLID Modeling.

 

Its direct competitors are UGS-NX, CATIA, Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and Solid Edge.
